Kutub.id – Twenty days before the 2022 Local Media Summit which will be held on 27-28 October 2022, the committee has secured funding commitments for 100 local media to attend the event which will be held at the National Library. This funding includes transportation and accommodation for participants in Jakarta.
The Summit Committee, which was initiated by Suara.com and International Media Support (IMS), will select funding recipients from media who have registered to participate in the 2022 Local Media Summit through the www.localmediasummit.com page. Media that have registered will be selected based on certain criteria such as area of coverage, variety of issues covered, or uniqueness.
“We invite local media to register immediately, so hopefully they will get the opportunity to be able to take part in various events at the Local Media Summit,” said Suwarjono, CEO of Suara.com, in a press statement, Thursday (10/6/2022)
Eva Danayanti, Program Manager of IMS, stated that the 2022 Local Media Summit is part of the Startup for Media Startup (SMS) project that IMS has carried out since late 2021 in collaboration with Suara.com. Since last year, IMS and Suara.com have conducted workshops, coaching, and mentoring for a number of local media in Indonesia in order to have a viable or sustainable business.
“The Local Media Summit will be held every year to find potential new local media to assist in its development. IMS assesses that a Summit like this is very important for the development of the local media ecosystem in Indonesia,” said Eva.
The 2022 Local Media Summit is designed as a meeting of local media with other media stakeholders such as the government, donor agencies, foreign embassies, advertising agencies, companies, and non-governmental organizations. This summit consists of various events such as conferences, workshops, coaching clinics, networking nights, sharing ideas, and a wall of fame.
The opening conference will be presenting the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno and the closing conference will be inviting the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki. There were nine workshops, four coaching clinics, and two sharing ideas that brought speakers from Amazon Web Service, Google, IMS, DailyMotion, MGID, and many experienced experts on media from Indonesia and abroad
The first day’s activities will be closed with Networking Night which will be guided by Inayah Wahid and Jesse from HAMburger Podcast. Networking Night is a casual dinner that brings together local media and invitees such as embassies, donor agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other media stakeholders. Several event collaborators are also committed to holding side events before and after the Local Media Summit.
Twenty selected local media will also be featured on the Wall of Fame which will be on display during the 2022 Local Media Summit. Local media who are interested in showing their profile on the Wall of Fame just need to make sure they are ready when filling out the participant registration form.
